With over 10 years of experience as a lawyer, David Ibeawuchi is the Founder and Managing Lawyer at Fusion Law. He is a Barrister, Solicitor and Notary Public, a dual qualified lawyer, called to the bars of Ontario, Canada, and Nigeria
David currently practices in the areas of Immigration and Refugee Law, Civil Litigation and Family Law.
He has significant experience representing clients in refugee litigation and immigration matters including Judicial review of administrative decisions from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) of Canada.
His immigration practice also includes representing clients in their refugee protection claims at the Refugee Protection Division (RPD), appeals at the Refugee Appeal Division (RAD) and representations at the Immigration Division (ID) and Immigration Appeal Division (IAD).
He is experienced in Stay of Removal/Deportation matters, Pre-Removal Risk Assessments (PRRA), Humanitarian and Compassionate (H & C) applications, and has assisted numerous clients in advocating and protecting their rights at the Federal Court of Canada.
David is passionate about assisting individuals who are eligible to immigrate to Canada through various immigration pathways and also businesses that seek to establish in Canada.
David has vast experience in civil litigation and civil appeals at the Divisional Court and Court of Appeal of Ontario. He represents clients at the Superior Court of Justice and other Courts of first instance in family law matters and resulting appeals.
EARLY CAREER
David started his legal career as a Barrister and Solicitor in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria after he was called to Nigerian bar in 2014. He provided legal representation in matters at the Courts of first instance and resulting appeals up to the Supreme Court.
He practiced as a core litigation lawyer handling election petition cases and a wide variety of civil matters which cut across constitutional law, tort, fundamental rights enforcement, employment and labour, matrimonial causes, company and allied matters and criminal litigation.
He acted as lead counsel in an election matter that led to the disqualification and nullification of the election of a lawmaker in a State Legislative House of Assembly by the Federal High Court for breach of the provisions of the Electoral Act.
